PA News Agency is looking for a news reporter to join our Entertainment desk.

PA is the UK’s national news agency, supplying 24/7 journalism to every newsroom in the country.


It sits at the heart of the PA Media Group which is now a portfolio of diversified news and information companies encompassing a large data division, the picture agency Alamy and the streaming service StreamAMG, among others. 


About the Role.


The successful candidate will work on the Entertainment news desk to gather and produce news for print and online. This is a fast-paced role, working on a lot of varied material and as such, you will be comfortable reporting on stories that set the news agenda.


You will also turn your hand to the lighter side of Entertainment, reporting on everything from reality TV to the latest TikTok star. The role will give you the opportunity to conduct interviews and will also attend and cover entertainment events.


You should be abreast of all the latest news, be able to write in different styles and tones of voice, for a range of audiences and platforms. This is a great opportunity for a reporter who loves Entertainment to be a part of an exciting team. 


**Please note - due to the nature of the entertainment schedule, you will be required to work shifts, including weekends and evenings.**
  

About you.


  • You don’t need previous showbiz experience to be able to do this role, but you would need to be a reporter with news skills looking for an exciting, engaging job in a breaking news environment
  • Experience working in a breaking news environment is beneficial and you should be able to turn around accurate, concise copy in the PA style
  • You will be comfortable writing across all areas of Entertainment, including Arts and Media, and be able to grasp and accurately cover topics including Government committee’s and other complex issues that pertain to Entertainment
  • You should possess excellent journalism skills and be able to connect widely with different audiences.  An understanding of social media and how it influences the Entertainment industry is also essential
  • An NCTJ-approved qualification and reliable shorthand are essential.
