Technical Assistant

Halo are seeking Technical Assistants to join our award winning Film and Broadcast Post Production Facility.


You will be working in our Tech team responsible for Off-line Edit support, ingest, encoding, transcoding, and other technical workflow processes.

About the Role


Working in the Halo tech team, our Technical Assistants duties encompass: 

  • Avid Offline edit suite support
  • Ingest 
  • Encoding and Transcoding
  • Rushes syncing and grouping
  • Generating deliverables
  • Data storage and housekeeping.

As part of this role you would be entered into halo's training scheme which involves regular assessments and pay reviews as part of a 2 year scheme.

Key responsibilities:

  • To effectively complete bookings as required, including (but not limited to), data ingest, management & transcoding/encoding; data storage housekeeping, edit project management & archive, plus any other suitable tasks that assist the day to day running of the department

  • To communicate with and technically support creative operators and clients within the offline and online editorial departments, ensuring they have all the resources needed to successfully complete their work; troubleshooting technical issues and using the resources within the Technical Operations department to find quick and effective solutions

  • To communicate successfully with producers to help advise on available resources and technical matters

  • To support and train more junior members of the department

  • To ensure all systems within the department and all related machine rooms are operating to the required technical standards, by reporting any faults or issues to the relevant person

  • To carry out housekeeping on a regular basis to ensure that all local and networked storage and associated with the department are all in a recommended state.

  • To ensure that all your work is completed accurately and on time, to the highest technical standards and ensure that it is fully accounted for using the designated administration and documentation tools, so that clients can be correctly charged for any work undertaken within the departments.


Details:

Salary will be competitive, and dependent on experience. A working knowledge and recent experience of Avid Media Composer software is essential, as is at least 6 months previous experience in a similar post production facility.
