Camera Technician

We are now seeking a Camera Technician to ensure that our digital equipment is maintained to the highest standards.

As Camera Technician, you will be responsible for managing the digital equipment room; including stills, moving image and IT equipment, as well as all peripherals and camera and grip equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing accurate rental orders, working from our bar-coding system, completing orders thoroughly and comprehensively
  • Test and prepare jobs to the highest standard, using a keen eye for detail and upholding the need for quality and presentation when completing orders
  • Checking sub-hire equipment before allocating to a job
  • Demonstrating and utilising product knowledge, understanding of client expectations regarding the quality and presentation of equipment, right down to how the kit looks when the cases are opened on set
  • Routinely testing equipment in a ‘working environment’ and as part of a complete system
  • Managing the return of equipment; returning sub hire equipment, cleaning and checking of returned equipment. Notify the clients for missing or damaged items. Update our internal software systems
  • Liaising with transport and sub-hire bookers / department for sub-hire items collections and returns 
  • Logging the repair of damaged equipment.

General maintenance:

  • Keeping firmware and software up to date 
  • Resetting  rented computers of client data and history, checking functionality
  • Working to propagate all relevant data in to the company’s software, including weights, barcodes, replacement values, etc.
  • Ensuring impeccable client facing skills, communicative skills and the ability to troubleshoot with clients over the phone and on set 
  • Demonstrate equipment to clients 
  • Assist with marketing in setting up company events, and providing social media content.


We are looking for:

  • The ideal candidate should have a degree in photography or education relevant to the media industry and / or on-set experience as a Camera Assistant or a Prep Tech at a camera rental house
  • Mac literacy, and MS Excel, Word, Outlook are a requirement
  • Capture One, Photoshop & Lightroom would be advantageous but are not essential
  • An understanding of digital imaging.
