Camera Operator/ Editor – Field Based
We are looking for a field-based Camera Operator/Editor to join our growing team in our Park Royal office in London. 

As a Camera Operator, you'll work with digital, electronic and film cameras and produce required shots by combining the use of complex technology with creativity.
About Alghad TV
Alghad TV is an Arabic language satellite and online news channel which was first launched in 2012. It broadcasts international and Middle East news 24/7 to many audiences around the globe; specifically, Arabic speaking audiences. 

Alghad TV has 34 news bureaus around the world with more than 50 correspondents. 

Alghad TV delivers objective and accurate news away from sectorial and regional conflicts giving an alternative voice to audiences in a region where the media has become very divided and polarized.

About the Role
We are looking for a field-based Camera Operator/Editor to join our growing team in our Park Royal office in London. As a Camera Operator, you'll work with digital, electronic and film cameras and produce required shots by combining the use of complex technology with creativity. 

You may be required to work on a variety of programmes such as studio or outside broadcast programmes, television drama, documentaries and news. You may use one of several cameras or a portable single camera (PSB), or DSLR cameras. 

You could also specialize in working in one or more of the following areas: Outside broadcast (OB)- working as part of a team of camera operators filming live events, news, live coverage, programmes, or filming reports.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Assemble, prepare and set up equipment prior to filming, which includes tripods, monitors, lighting, cables and leads and headphones, TVU, Mics
  • Offer advice on how best to shoot a scene and explain the visual impact created by particular shots
  • Working as a single camera operator, handling all video and sound on set
  • Organising and maintaining various camera equipment
  • Repair and maintain equipment and keep up to date with filming methods and equipment while outside the office
  • Working within our in-house media production team and deliver high quality outputs, operating a variety of technical equipment, including remote-control and electronic cameras, lighting, audio and screen recording kits.

The role directly impacts our output. The post holder must have high levels of personal integrity and is required to take a considerable level of personal responsibility for their work. 

Organised and systematic in approach, with punctilious attention to detail, candidates must be capable of exercising good judgement and be able to work effectively and calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Reports to the Head of Operations in a team
  • Liaises with internal departments at all levels in an operational setting
  • Communicates routinely and professionally with Alghad TV and anyone associated to Alghad TV.

About You
Experience, Knowledge & Skills required:
  • Previous experience in a camera operator role within a media or broadcast environment is essential
  • Good knowledge of editing videos and audio level and colour grade when required
  • Good Knowledge of Adobe, Avid News coder, and Premiere Pro
  • Familiarity with various equipment for video and audio including Canon, Sony, JVC handcam
  • Certificate in relevant field
  • The ability to frame and compose shots, perform camera moves accurately
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and take direction from others
  • Flexibility, creativity, patience and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate a good awareness of health and safety issues
  • A strong interest in television, media and changes in the way consumers consume content is desirable.

Hours of work: 
  • Full time 40-hour week – based on a rota shift pattern.
