Broadcast Information Coordinator
Discovery Eurosport is hiring a Broadcast Information Coordinator, on a fixed-term basis, within the Sports and Olympic Operations department.

You will assist with the coordination of all Broadcast Information requirements to all relevant stakeholders.
Position Summary

In June 2015, Discovery Inc. secured a ground-breaking deal with the International Olympic Committee for all TV and multi-platform broadcast rights in Europe for the four Olympic Games in the 2018–2024*. 


Since January 2017, Discovery’s leading sports brand – Eurosport – has been known as the Home of the Olympics in Europe and successfully delivered the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, the company’s first Olympic Games production, to more people on more screens across the Continent.

 

Discovery and Eurosport are looking to fill various roles to support our coverage of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 from 24 July – 9 August 2020.

 

Discovery Eurosport is hiring a Broadcast Information Coordinator, on a fixed-term basis, within the Sports and Olympic Operations department, who will assist with the coordination of all Broadcast Information requirements to all relevant stakeholders.

 

*Eurosport is Home of the Olympics in Europe. Excludes France 2018-2020.  Excludes Russia. Eurosport will be an Official Broadcaster in the UK 2018 and 2020.


Responsibilities:
  • Major sports events involve the generation of large quantities of information. The key role of Broadcast Information is to ensure the dissemination both internally and to key stakeholders all relevant material channelled from relevant bodies like host broadcasters including OBS, Olympic Organising Committees, International Federations and Discovery Eurosport internal departments.
  • To support creation of content, and management of, digital platforms for Broadcast Information distribution both pre event and during events. This will include access arrangements for Discovery Eurosport Markets and key stakeholders.
  • To liaise with OBS and relevant Organising Committees in the scheduling and arrangement of meetings and site surveys on behalf of Markets and sublicensees.
  • Contribute to the organisation and running of WBMs and WBBs with specific reference to managing Discovery Eurosport attendance.  This will include the compilation of documents and presentations.
  • Oversee Operations Timelines which cover deadlines for submissions as well as Operational Timelines of all aspects of the project e.g.  the hiring of personnel, IBC handover to rights holders etc.
  • Liaise with all Operational areas to ensure that they deliver on schedule in accordance with the agreed timelines.
  • Through Smartsheets manage the control of documents.
  • Co-ordinate with Engineering, Digital, Production and Operations departments the content for Games-time manuals/documentation.  Supervise all aspects of the Manuals’ production and subsequent distribution.
  • Provide support to the Bookings and Production Management Teams both Pre-Games and at Games Time.
  • As identified by the Director of Broadcast Operations, and in consultation with the Production Manager, assist in the recruitment of appropriate Olympics Broadcast Information personnel for the IBC and venue operations.  At Games-time assist in the management of these personnel.
  • Work closely with OBS/Organising Committee at Olympics Games-time to ensure that Markets and sublicensees receive all necessary event paperwork e.g. start-lists, results sheets, through whatever processes are identified by OBS/Organising Committee.
  • Assist the Production Manager in the delivery of venue facilities.
  • Awareness and understanding of Discovery’s overall Business Continuity Plan in respect of the Tokyo 2020 operation.
  • Whilst the above is a comprehensive assessment of the role, the duties of the Broadcast Information Co-ordinator may from time to time be amended as dictated by business.

Candidate Profile
Requirements:
  • Sound knowledge of IT programmes including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Smartsheets, Keynote. Knowledge and experience of website management.
  • Experience of complex multisport operations.
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills including experience of creating corporate texts, news releases and boilerplates and editing, selecting and adapting relevant material produced by other organisations and bodies.
  • Comfortable using social media platforms and creating succinct, enticing corporate communication content for internal channels.
  • Sound knowledge of the European broadcasting environment.
  • High standard of understanding of all aspects of the technical processes required to produce an international broadcast operation for multinational companies.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English essential with a working-knowledge of other languages an advantage as the holder will be operating alongside international broadcasters.
  • Experience of creating PowerPoint presentations, working with existing templates and producing visuals – such as infographics - for presentations
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, other editing programmes and the Adobe Suite preferred. Ability to create basic/simple visuals from scratch and/or ability to edit and manipulate existing designs.
