The Director of Sky Sports News will: drive continued growth in Sky Sports News’ content consumption; collaborate across Sky Sports; and support the wider business objectives of Sky and the Comcast Group.

You will:

  • Lead the SSN editorial team delivering the world’s leading sports news service
  • Be responsible for the multi-platform delivery of SSN content across linear, web, mobile and social platforms, as well as being an ambassador for Sky
  • Lead on editorial policy and priorities for SSN
  • Oversee and manage the operations for news-gathering, news output, international desk, digital news teams and channel operations
  • Provide leadership and clear direction - cultivating a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and innovation
  • Propose, agree and manage an annual budget for SSN
  • Deliver strong multi-platform audience numbers by driving daily sports news agenda
  • Set and maintain editorial standards, ensuring all staff work to the SSN Code of Conduct and understand all relevant media law and Ofcom codes
  • Oversee presenter line-up and line manage senior presenters
  • Ensure SSN team are given continued opportunities for their professional development
  • Ensure SSN attracts and a develops a diverse workforce both on and off-screen, championing diversity and inclusion
  • Support Sky’s wider business objectives
  • Establish strong relations with internal and external key partners, stakeholders and contacts.

 

You’ll have:

  • A proven track record in a Senior Leadership position with a sports content and editorial focus
  • Experience of managing budgets of scale
  • Excellent communication skills - capable of liaising at all levels of the business
  • The ability to motivate and lead a team both on and off screen
  • A track record of cultivating a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and innovation
  • A demonstrable record to be a role model to a large team, with the ability to demonstrate Sky’s purpose & values both inside and outside the organisation.
