Head of Content & Channels

The Client

Our client is a FTSE 100 company and one of the leading social sports and gaming  brands in the UK and Ireland. A highly profitable and successful business, its operations cover the UK, Ireland and the company is now expanding internationally too.  

The company's media presence is world class, reaching new audiences to bring the brand story to the masses. They create live shows and other appealing content on social media, TV shows, radio shows, podcast segments and other platforms.

The company is now taking its content operations to the next level by creating a new position of Head of Content and Channels. The aim is to become the No. 1 content destination for all sports and gaming-related content in the UK&I.


The Role

The Head of Content & Channels will oversee all content & editorial initiatives for both internal and external channels with the aim of defining the brand story and keeping it firmly at the forefront of popular culture.

This individual will champion all things related to content, distribution, channel optimisation, brand consistency, segmentation and localisation, analytics and meaningful measurement. 

The ultimate aim is to drive reach & engagement, supporting customer acquisition & retention metrics.


The role entails overseeing a team of creatives.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Mapping out a continuous evolving content strategy that supports and extends short- and long-term marketing initiatives, and determining which methods work for the brand
  • Drive reach and engagement of our client’s brand and products, delivering revenue through the development and distribution of relevant, interesting and cut-through content
  • Creating external partnerships with other content platforms for co-productions and collaborations to reach new and broader audiences
  • Ensuring all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimised for search and user experience for all channels of content including online, social media, email, point of purchase, mobile, video, print and in-person
  • Working across the group to leverage the company's content strength to bring new formats and new content to its audiences
  • Integration of content activities within traditional marketing campaigns
  • Leveraging market data to develop and leverage relevant and optimal channels to reach target audience.

The Person

A highly creative individual is required with a track record of content development and production, who can think like a publisher / journalist  and devise quality material to engage the target audience.

The successful candidate must have a reputation for creating attention grabbing content that has the zeitgeist firmly at its core, and a portfolio that spans TV, Digital, and Social. This person will have expertise in both in-house creative development and co-productions and partnerships.


Specific Experience and Competencies Required:

  • A strong creative track record and the ability to demonstrate innovative and effective programming
  • A broadcast production background is highly desirable, but a successful track record in journalism, public relations or a related communications field will also be considered
  • 10-15 years' experience as a respected leader in multi-channel content creation
  • Experience of creating compelling messages for different target demographics
  • Expertise in brand building and the ability to express strong well-articulated opinions on the company brand
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills (essential)
  • The capacity to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and within budget
  • A proactive self-starter who self-motivates to constantly challenge the status quo, identifies opportunities and champions them regularly
  • Expertise in all major business software applications (Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • HR-related experience including hiring, managing, performance reviews, compensation packages, etc.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, you’ll need to pull together all the strands of creative and practical talent involved in a project to create a team
  • A keen interest and knowledge of sport – in particular football.


Candidates will be required to  a current show reel or portfolio of work.
