Broadcast Producer
We need an experienced News and Programme Producer to work inside and out the news room, producing news bulletins and programmes.
About Alghad TV
Alghad TV is an Arabic language satellite and online news channel which was first launched in 2012. It broadcasts international and Middle East news 24/7 to many audiences around the globe; specifically, Arabic speaking audiences. Alghad TV has 34 news bureaus around the world with more than 50 correspondents. Alghad TV delivers objective and accurate news away from sectorial and regional conflicts giving an alternative voice to audiences in a region where the media has become very divided and polarized. Alghad TV promotes the culture of tolerance and aims to enlighten the views of its audiences.

Purpose of the Role
We need an experienced News and Programme Producer to work inside and outside the news room.  This role has flexible requirements as the candidate will be allocated shifts on a rota pattern, to work as either a Producer or a Reporter.  Due to the flexible requirements of this role, the candidate must be reliable, well organised, strong when communicating, keen to take on a challenge with the willingness to learn new skills.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Producing news bulletins and programmes
  • Chairing editorial meetings and leading teams
  • Commissioning relevant material and supervising production
  • Taking part in meetings and discussions
  • To research, write, translate, and edit stories
  • To voice and edit packages
  • Produce pre and post production, and studio work, live and pre-recorded
  • To perform on air with or without a script, conduct interview and chair discussions, live or pre-recorded
  • Finding contributors and interviewees as appropriate
  • Taking responsibility of moving stories
  • Suggesting creative ideas for presenting stories to audiences
  • To liaise effectively with other internal teams and external bodies
  • Carrying out other duties assigned by managers.

The role directly impacts our output. The post holder must have high levels of personal integrity and is required to take a considerable level of personal responsibility for their work. Organized and systematic in approach, with punctilious attention to detail, candidates must be capable of exercising good judgement and be able to work effectively and calmly under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Reports to the Head of News in a team
  • Liaises with internal departments at all levels
  • Communicates routinely and professionally with Alghad TV and anyone associated to Alghad TV.

About You
Experience, knowledge and skills required:
  • Proven record of outstanding editorial leadership, managing teams and taking decisions
  • Ability to originate programmes and story ideas
  • Ability to motivate team members
  • Thorough understanding of international and Middle East affairs
  • Excellent editorial judgement and writing skills
  • Highly developed communication skills in Arabic and English
  • Good broadcasting voice
  • Excellent knowledge of TV production techniques and facilities
  • Excellent knowledge of information sources for breaking news and for advance research
  • Effective team player who can achieve work under pressure
  • Ability to write and translate with accuracy and clarity
  • Arabic language.

  • Hours of work: Full time 40-hour week – based on a rota shift pattern.
