Localisation & Dubbing Coordinator

Zodiak Kids and Banijay Rights are looking for a Localisation & Dubbing Coordinator to join the team on a permanent basis.

Zodiak Kids is a global independent leader in kids entertainment, combining Banijay Group’s dedicated kids production company, consumer products, digital and TV sales division. The company’s production arm is Zodiak Kids Studios, with offices in Paris & London, who produce animation and live action programming for a wide range of international broadcasters for audiences worldwide.


About the Role

Things you’ll be getting involved with:

  • Source language content from existing licensees or negotiate access when content is with third parties
  • Work with Legal to draft Dubbing contracts and third-party access agreements for distribution including delivery costs, technical formats, delivery schedules and approvals
  • Build and maintain relationships with dubbing vendors and build a database of relevant suppliers
  • Negotiate, review and manage costs,  terms and conditions with dubbing and subtitling vendors commissioning foreign language versions
  • Ensure original version material is sourced from storage and sent to dubbing studios along with relevant programme paperwork in a timely manner
  • Coordinate the receipt of accessed or commissioned material, QC of foreign language content and storage materials
  • Develop technical knowledge of television file formats to ensure content meets Zodiak’s technical requirements for programme material
  • Assess and track restrictions, formats, material issues and input information accurately into Easytrack, our Rights Management system
  • Maintain the Zodiak Kids’ database with information relating to the creation of, and access to, language dubs
  • Ensure that the Sales team is advised regarding any availability, cost, clearance or materials issues ahead of primary or secondary sale
  • Raise and complete purchase orders, track and sign-off on invoices and submit to Finance
  • Source Lexicon or dubbing glossaries from Producers for key brands, to ensure brand compliance before distributing to any TV Licensee and/or dubbing studio
  • Work closely with  internal and external programme production companies to manage and secure approvals of translations (in accordance with Lexicon) and of dubbing voices
  • Obtain ancillary materials for local language versions and upload to our website
  • Produce metadata and adapt to suit client requirements where necessary, e.g. for Netflix, Hulu etc.
  • Coordinate return of materials to Producers on expiry of agreements.


In addition to the above you may be required to perform other duties that fall outside your job title or key duties.

About You

Key Knowledge & Skills

  • Operational experience in foreign language localisation in particular dubbing and subtitling
  • A background in Television Production, Distribution or in a broadcast environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of digital and tape formats and post production techniques
  • Knowledge of International dubbing vendors;
  • Fluent in one language other than English (preferably European language) is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the confidence and enthusiasm to build relationships
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage your own workload working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proactive, flexible and adaptable approach
  • Attention to detail
  • Confident with Microsoft Office packages.
