Video Editor

We are seeking a Video Editor to create short form daily videos that engage social media audiences and longer-form pieces that tell a deeper story. 

About the Role

The Video Editor will be creating both short-form, daily videos that engage social media audiences and longer-form pieces that tell a deeper story.  They will be required to work with editorial teams to produce editorial video content, to help build a video audience for our brands.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate videos from multiple sources to enhance existing articles
  • Produce videos for sharing across multiple platforms
  • Devise creative treatments and executions and see them through from planning to delivery
  • Measure the performance of the videos you make
  • Create graphics packages and animations
  • Collaborate with editors to plan a consistent editorial calendar
  • Work with social media teams to deliver engaging video content
  • Maintain our video archive
  • Ensure the website meets its copyright obligations
  • Assisting in raising the profile of the website
  • Ensure that brand standards are met across all platforms
  • Shape and produce a video content plan
  • Input audio content into videos (such as voice overs and captions)
  • Work with editors to edit raw footage and upload to relevant platforms to agreed deadlines
  • Any other reasonable requests from the the Managing Editor or the CEO.

 

About You

Person Specification

 

Essential

  • Ideally at least two years’ experience in a video production environment, or other relevant
  • Proven experience shooting, editing and distributing video
  • A love of social media and experience creating video for multiple platforms
  • Ability to interpret analytics, adjusting output where necessary to maximise effectiveness of video campaigns         
  • Ability to produce high quality videos that achieve healthy audience figures.
  • Ensure that video is a major draw to the website
  • Interest in marketing, design and creativity
  • Experience in video editing
  • Ability to effectively manage stakeholders
  • A strong interest in arts, culture, travel and international affairs, with an awareness of key global  events
  • Full of innovative, cross-platform ideas
  • A thorough and analytical with exemplary attention to detail
  • Ability to think laterally and visually about editorial ideas
  • A confident and ambitious person with a can-do attitude
  • Good colour grading skills
  • Good storytelling skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time and project management skills
  • A track record in delivering projects on time and to brief
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and on adhoc projects
  • Happy to travel as required
  • Expertise in working with Final Cut or Adobe Premier.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience shooting everything from well-planned studio setups to on the hoof Interviews
  • Indoor and outdoor lighting skills
  • Can speak and write in Arabic.
